Walls are hidden behind everything else such as blocks. Background walls also just known as walls are tiles that create backgrounds on top of biome backgrounds. Dungeon walls unsafe are background walls which can be bought from the clothier for 10 each. A single dungeon will usually contain all three types in different areas.

If jumped on walked across grappled to or mined with a pickaxe several cracked dungeon bricks nearby the targeted tile including the tile itself may fall and be destroyed upon hitting solid ground dropping no item. Cracked dungeon bricks behave similarly to thin ice and sand but with distinct differences from both. Dungeon brick walls cannot be crafted nor converted into dungeon bricks but can be freed and collected with a hammer or dynamite after skeletron has been defeated. These walls allow npc spawns even when placed by the player and they count as a dungeon biome allowing the player to create a fully functioning artificial dungeon.

If you re only looking at the entrance make sure you explore the entire dungeon as the walls can change in different parts of the dungeon. As with other naturally placed walls natural dungeon brick walls can only be mined from one of their edges meaning that the wall tiles to be mined must be adjacent to empty tiles.
